In the wider world STEM is becoming an important part of young people's learning. STEM is a quickly developing part of industry from robotics to cyber security. In the Air Cadets we support STEM development.
Crest Awards
The RAF Air Cadet supports the Crest Awards although we are currently unable to fund them. These awards are ran by the British Science Association and encourage young people to explore real life STEM projects and challenge them to find solutions. We have project ideas for the Discovery and Bronze awards. While Silver and Gold are recognised by UCAS.
Radio and Cyber Badges
Our Radio and Cyber Badges allow cadets to expand their knowledge through working through the badges find out more about what is involved on them on are Radio and Cyber Page
Space
This syllabus was released back in June 2020 as part of the organisations aim to deliver more STEM. At the moment there is a blue and bronze space certificate for cadets to achieve
Blue - Applications of Space
To gain the blue space certificates the cadets will learn about where space starts and the atmosphere, all the ways that NASA's technology helps us in day to day life and all about satellites.
Bronze Space
The bronze space certificate achieved by completing two modules. The first Exploring Space focusing on the development of rockets and their engines as well as space debris and space pioneers.
The second is all about the moon. How the moon affects are planet as well as is it possible to live on the moon.
