Challenge, Learn, Volunteer
The Duke of Edinburgh award is nationally recognised award which are cadets can partake in and is highly encouraged. DofE is made up of numerous sections (physical, volunteer, skill, expedition).
Blue - Pre-DofE Award
This award is an internal award by the Royal Air Force Air Cadets to prepare our cadets that are too young to complete DofE Award, most of this is completed within the First Class Syllabus.
Bronze
The bronze DofE award is made up of 4 sections:

Volunteering: 3 months

Physical: 3 months

Skills: 3 months

Expedition: 2 days / 1 night

Cadets are also required to spend an additional 3 months on either the volunteering, physical or skills section.
Silver
The silver DofE award is made up of 4 sections if cadets have already completed bronze they need to:

Volunteering: 6 months

Physical: 3 months

Skills: 3 months

Expedition: 3 days / 2 nights

Cadets are also required to spend an additional 3 months on either the physical or skills sections.

If cadets have not completed bronze they will need to complete an extra 6 months of volunteering or the longer of the physical or skills section.
Gold
The gold DofE Award is made up of 5 sections if cadets have already completed silver they need to:

Volunteering: 12 months

Physical: 6 months

Skills: 6 months

Expedition: 4 days / 3 nights

Residential: 5 days / 4 nights

If cadets have not completed silver they will need to complete an extra 6 months of volunteering or the longer of the physical or skills section.
