Adventure Training
Character, Leadership, Initiative
The organisation offers a range of Adventure Training opportunities to our cadets to help foster a sense of adventure, development of character, leadership, initiative and personal qualities. This is achieved through participation in planned challenging pursuits within a safe environment.
Land-based activities
The organisation offers:
-
Climbing (Indoors and Outdoors)
-
Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions
-
High and Low Rope obstacle courses
-
Mountain Biking
-
Nordic and Cross-Country Skiing
-
Ten Tors
-
Trekking
The squadron currently has a member of staff able to deliver indoor climbing and High and Low Rope opportunities.
Most of these opportunities are arranged by the Wing in order to pull resources together. For example the Wing enters multiple teams each year to participate in the Ten Tors event. Cadet's go through a rigorous training programme to ensure they are ready for the event.
Other opportunities are offered at a regional and national level for example the Nordic and Cross-Country Skiing.
Water Based Activities
The organisation offers:
-
Canoeing
-
Kayaking
-
Sailing
-
White Water Rafting
Just like the Land-Based activities, the Wing pulls resources together to enable cadets to participate in Water-Based activities to ensure a challenging and safe enviroment.
Adventure Training Camps
The Wing normally offers two Adventure Training Camps each spanning a week. This allows our cadets who love adventure the opportunity to challenge and develop their skills through an extended period of time.
